And the last thing heard before Earth was invaded was: "Huh, I guess they do look like DC-8s."

How does one enjoy a conversation about films when the other party believes I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry to be among the "funniest movies ever made!!!!1"?

And just to get more people on my side, they used the word 'crap' to describe Dylan Moran.

The local newspaper here has this section which aggravates me whenever I see it.

It sits opposite the Letters page and is called "TXT". It prints text messages sent in from readers as is, with linguistic fail at its finest. I can't remember if it omits some of the more colourful words we all know and love, but it is a section rife with mud slinging and name calling.

I realise this is a newspaper aimed at a smallish town and isn't really supposed to be on a par with proper other papers, but still, I expect some kind of journalistic integrity.

I bring this up because in the few editions I've caught, there has been argument over how to say this year, and the years to follow. Is it "twenty ten" or "two thousand (and) ten"? THIS is only brought up because befoe I moved here, I read something saying that people who say the latter are "future haters".

The irony in this, of course, is the people who say that are sticking to the format for saying years we've used for who knows how long, and want to make sure that we stick to their method. Personally, I say the former because it sounds less awkward, but meh, either is fine, really.

In lighter news, I was told tonight that I should be punched in the face purely because I was an atheist. I can't aggravate this guy right now though. I have to be good so I can continue to freeload here.

Now to go write, I think.

8 days after I arrive in the merry old land of Oz and I have a job. I dont have a permanent residence, a bank account or a tax number, but I do have a job, and that'll do me for the next while.

Yay!

... He was just getting ready to crack on with Nanowrimo 2008.

I can tell you right now, it wasnt a rousing success. Neither was Nano 09, come to think of it. Maybe this year.

That, however, is small news.

The big news is this: On Sunday the 20th of December, after nearly three years of working for FSSI, I handed in my resignation. I suppose the question "why?" might not be unusual.

So, here goes, I am off to greener pastures. After talking to a friend of mine from Australia, I have decided to take a leap and move over there. So at the end of January (two days before Aussie Day) I will be flying into Rockhampton in north Queensland. As things progress, updates should be made.

This does mean that if anyone does wish to play catch up with me, they have a limited amount of time within which to do so.

Unless of course Australia is more convenient. In which case you'll have heaps of time. Obviously.

So yes, thats the biggest news, really.

In other, bulleted points:

- I spent two months in Washington state in America earlier this year. A fantastic place with really great people and I cant wait to go back. Pictures? Maybe. I lost the memory card theyre on before transferring them to the PC. Im sure Ill find it in the move and then post them.

- It's been a full year and that is it. Seriously. I almost wrote that I had a kid, but that shits not even funny.

- Oh yeah, my leg still fucking hurts.

I suppose that will have to do.

Oh yeah, Ill be weeding the flist in the coming days. I suppose those that dont reply in some fashion will end up going.
